HVDC REACTOR
Slider

HVDC Reactors are connected in series in each converter with each pole. They decreases harmonic voltages and currents in the DC line, smooth the ripple in the DC current and prevents the current from becoming discontinuous at light loads. Limits shunt capacitance discharge and crest current due to short circuits on HVDC lines.

SMOOTHING REACTORS
Smoothing reactors are connected in series with HVDC transmission line to reduce the harmonics / ripples as well as for improving the system stability. These reactors are necessary in order to smooth the direct current wave shape to reduce losses and improve system performance

FILTER REACTORS
HVDC filter reactors are installed on DC side as well as ac side of the HVDC converter. AC filter reactors provide reactive power as well as reduce harmonic currents. DC filters are installed on the line side of the HVDC smoothing reactor in shunt with the DC line & function of DC filters is to further reduce the harmonic currents on DC line..
